HISTORY

You are the light of the world
...and the salt of the earth.. Mt. 5:13-14

Ou Humble Beginnings

The Early Years On January 22, 1992, thirteen people gathered at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Mt. Carmel Cathedral for a prayer meeting with Fr. Jes Hapal who initiated the idea. Inspired and moved by the Holy Spirit, the group soon grew into a community which became the Light and Salt Catholic Charismatic Community (LSCC) having the mission to give savor to life to those who are losing hope, and bring light to those who are in darkness. Thus, the group's name Light and Salt. (Mt. 5:13-14)

In June of that same year, the first Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS) was held with Fr. Jess and other priest on the island as speakers.

LSCCC sponsored the second LSS in January 1995 which was conducted by the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) headed by Fr. Domi and ten other lay facilitators from the Philippines. There were at least 80 participants from various Philippine organizational and groups in Saipan who reponded to God's invitation. In October 1996, the LSCCC had its first community-conducted LSS to Filipinos who thirst and long for more personal and deeper relationship with God.

LSCCC Today

LSCC continues to bring people closer to God through prayer meetings, Bible sharings, fellowships, and growth teachings/seminars. LSCCC remains to open its welcoming arms to anyone who would like to experience God in a more personal way and through community praise and worship.

Continued Support

LSCCC draws inspiration from the Spiritual Directors, lay ministers, members and benefactors who commit their time, talents and treasure for its cause. LSCCC would not be able to accomplish its objectives without the support extended by the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, Mercedarian Sisters, priests and parish councils of San Antonio, St. Jude and San Roque, and Mr. and Mrs. Willy Cunanan of the D'Elegance Cafe.
